2016 Review

It is estimated that around 80,000 people come to Caerphilly over the festival weekend each year to grab a slice of the Big Cheese action, which is now established as one of the biggest 'must see' summer events taking place in Wales.

In its 19th year the weather was on our side and the crowds turned out for a great weekend, with families coming in their thousands to enjoy the festival.

The Friday was also host to a spectacular fireworks display, feet tapping sounds from the music stage as well as the opening of the funfair. The annual Great Cheese Race had a great turn out with a large number of teams being entered and some great fancy dress outfits!

Visitor & Trader Comments:-

"We happened to be visiting our son in South Wales on the weekend of the Big Cheese Festival  and decided to attend. I congratulate the organisers on a wonderful festival. We found the bus service, entertainment, stalls and toilet facilities perfect. Whilst the place was packed and there were pushchairs and children everywhere and getting to some of the stalls took some effort there was no complaining and no pushing. The atmosphere was lovely. Add to that entrance to the amazing Castle being included in the free admission we were blown away. Five of us visited and apart from the cheese etc that we chose to buy, we paid £2 between us for the park and ride. I guess that you can't really take credit for the beautiful weather but that helped! I would not hesitate to recommend the Big Cheese Festival to anyone, including families with small children, as a marvellous, affordable weekend. Thanks to everyone involved."
Lynn and Quentin Todd, East Sussex

"Congratulations on another successful Big Cheese. Thanks for inviting the Newport Model Club and if you would like to invite us again next year, the answer will be "Yes, Yes, Yes!!! This includes all other events put on by Caerphilly C.B.C. It's going to be very hard to improve on PERFECTION. 'Well done to all involved'
Mike Crowther, Newport Model Club

“Thank you for another record show--everything went smoothly and the staff were great--and most importantly--I sold out!”
Bev Robins, Otley Brewery

I would like to thank you for organising another brilliant event over the weekend, everybody worked hard and it paid off. It was a lovely couple of days and everybody I spoke to was very happy with all the attractions and range of stalls, being a family day out and a 'dry' site made it even better. I just think, credit where it's due - you should hear this. I made a lot of connections for my business and return customers.
Andrea Davies, Moksha Jewels

“Just a quick note to say thank you for such a well organised event. We really enjoyed ourselves which was partly to do with the amount of people that attended but also due to how efficient the organisers were while offering a wide range of stands.”
The Ludlow Nut Company, Ludlow

Just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU for a wonderful weekend at The Big Cheese! Dotty cupcakes went down a storm and would love the opportunity to take part next year. Thank you all again for a great weekend.
Liz Salter and Allison Morgan, Dotty cupcakes

“My wife and I had a fantastic time at the Big Cheese at the weekend, it was the first time we attended the event and thoroughly enjoyed it. We have already pencilled it in for next year. On the Sunday my daughter, son in law and the grandchildren joined us for the day and they agreed that it will become an annual event from now on.”

We all felt the Big Cheese 2010 was run extremely well - the layout of the ground, the stewarding, the atmosphere, etc. Many thanks to you and all your team and everyone involved.
