Following a sell-out season at Sadler’s Wells last year, celebrated director & choreographer Arthur Pita returns on tour with his magical dance theatre show, The Little Match Girl.

Based on Hans Christian Andersen's classic story, this touching tale of an impoverished young street girl's hopes and dreams is beautifully told through dance, song and original music performed live on stage.

A snowy stage sets the scene for an icy cold Christmas Eve. Pacing the darkening streets with just one final match flame to keep her warm, the little match girl sees a vision of her beloved Grandmother, who guides her up into the night sky, to the shining moon. Now, on a clear night, if you look closely, you might see the light of a shooting star, or is it a match burning brightly?

Arthur Pita’s beautifully inventive approach to storytelling has excited huge critical and public acclaim. Recent successes include: A Dream Within A Midsummer Night's Dream for Ballet Black for which he was nominated for the 2014 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance and his adaptation of Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis at the Royal Opera House which won Olivier, Southbank Sky Arts and Critics Circle National Dance Awards.

As written by the Brothers Grimm, the story of Snow White...the seven dwarfs she meets in the forest....the Prince who falls in love with her...and the wicked aunt who plots to get rid of her, contains all the elements that make it a perfect subject for  an exciting, entertaining pantomime that will appeal to all ages.

We’ve got music and dance,
A little romance,
Plus a magical mirror that speaks.
A wicked Queen with an evil scheme
Who’ll haunt your dreams for weeks!

Young Snow White is all sweetness and light
The Seven Dwarfs are so cute and so funny.
And if comedy’s your thing,
It stars the pantomime King.
The legendary... Owen Money!
