Breathing leaves

Overview

- By putting a bag on branch children discover that the tree is actually breathing.


Equipment

: Large transparent plastic bag, String

Method:

  • Find a branch within easy reach and covered in leaves

  • Place the bag over the branch and leaves

  • Seal the open end of the bag to the branch tightly with the piece of string

  • Leave for as long as you can

  • When you return look at the bag, it should have condensation on it

  • Ask the children how they make condensation (on windows and mirrors with their breath)
