Contrasting environments

Overview

- To compare the differences of animals and plants that live in two different habitats

Equipment

: Worksheets, pencils, information books, access to the internet.

Method:

  • Choose two British mammals to compare - one that lives in a grassland habitat and one that lives in a woodland.

  • For each one think of different features and fill in the table below.

Follow up:

Ask Pupils to look for evidence of contrasting environments in familiar environments. e.g. home or in the school grounds. Are weeds taking over bare earth? Are tree seedlings growing? Look at the difference in the height from the outside of the woodland to the middle of the woodland.
