The uses of wood in modern day

Overview

- Pupils increase their awareness of the importance of wood in their environment.


Equipment

: Worksheets and pencils

Method:

  • Ask pupils to work with a friend and look around the school to find things made from wood

  • Sketch what they find and fill in the details in the worksheet attached

  • Each group to discuss whether they focus on wood outside, inside or both

Follow up:

 

Once the pupils have completed their survey they can come together as a class and share some of their observations. The completed grids can be used for a wall display. The children could design their own grid and record information at home.
