Children and Young People's Partnership

Young people playing a business gameThe work around children and young people also come under the Education for Life theme and is led by the multi agency Children and Young People’s Partnership.

The Children and Young People’s Partnership has a statutory duty to produce a children and young peoples plan every 3 years. In the Caerphilly Children and Young People’s Plan 2008 – 2011 the overarching priorities are:

  • Children and young people (including children and young people with additional needs) and their parents/carers are enabled to achieve success in relation to their abilities and maximise their potential.
  • Families with children are supported to establish foundations for emotional and physical health.
  • To lift the skill level of all children and young people so that they are able to maximise their lifelong opportunities.
  • Ensure that the best outcomes for individuals are secured through appropriate learning opportunities, which are properly understood and accessible to all.
  • Promote and improve the healthy lifestyles of children and young people living in Caerphilly County borough.
  • Children, young people and their families have mental wellbeing.
  • To ensure that children and young people are kept safe from harm and live in an environment that promotes their wellbeing and life chances.
  • All children and young people have improved health and well being and gain enjoyment and achievement from engagement in play, leisure and cultural activities.
  • Children, young people and their families know and understand their rights and responsibilities and the rights and responsibilities of others and are actively involved in decision making and facilitating change at all levels.
  • Children and young people live in a home and community that is safe and appropriate to their needs.

These priorities will be reviewed in 2011.
