Recycled Wind Chime workshop

Join us for this exciting new children’s workshop and create a wind chime for your garden inspired by nature. Using various natural materials and craft items, you can make a colourful ornament for your garden or house. Booking advisable.
Mini and Junior Rangers
Wednesday 3rd / 10th / 17th and 24th August
10.00am to 11.00am / 1.00pm to 3pm
Join the warden for some fun activities around the valley floor. We will be creating some gardens and planting flowers to create habitats for different animals. Mini rangers suitable for ages 4 to 6. Junior rangers ages 7 to11. Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
Supper with Bats
Friday 5th August
7.30pm until late
Adults £7.00 / £4.50 per child (ages 8+) Payment due at time of booking
Join us for an evening with bats. Commencing at the centre for a light supper (baked potato), we will then take a gentle stroll around the Cwmcarn Valley, armed with a bat detector and torches to discover these secretive little creatures. This will be an intimate affair, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
A Prickly Affair
Tuesday 9th August

We can’t get enough of these secretive prickly little creatures, and our friends from Hedgehog rescue centre are back to tell us all about these shy animals, and how we can look out for them. 4 sessions are available throughout the day so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.
Thursday 11th August

Come along and join us for this gentle stroll around the Cwmcarn Valley and take a close look at the flowers within the valley and learn about how we have used them over the centuries. For our smaller walkers, you can create a colourful journey card of your walk. On our return, enjoy a cuppa and a biscuit at the Ravens Café.
Upcycled Hedgehog Planters
Friday 12th August

Join us for another of our ‘Upcycling’ events and create a hedgehog planter using a recycled pop bottle. Bring along a clean 1 litre pop bottle and turn it into a unique planter filled with wild flowers. Prepared to get messy as we will be using compost and seeds. Spaces limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
Floral Suncatchers Planters
Monday 15th August
10.00am to 2.15pm
£3.00 per child (ages 4+)
We love a splash of colour at Cwmcarn Forest, and this workshop is no exception. Join the warden and create your own decorated sun catcher using flowers gathered from the valley floor. You will get to create your own picture and iron it into something unique and beautiful. (Please note we will be using a hot iron, but done with strict adult supervision).
Flower Power Seed Bombs

Join us for a messy workshop and create your very own flower power seed bombs. We will be mixing clay with compost and seeds and decorating an egg box to transport your flower power seeds home in. Please bring an empty ½ dozen egg box with you.
Clay Birdies Workshop
Thursday 25th August

Time to get mucky hands and be creative with this new workshop and make your own little bird out of clay. Once you have formed your bird, you will get to decorate it with paints/glitter and the occasional feather.
Mission Robot with Dark Skies Wales

Join the team from Dark skies Wales for this very hands on workshop and create your very own moving space Robot. This workshop is technically exciting and suitable for ages 10plus. Could your Robot be the first to walk in Cwmcarn.

Join Ed for the fantasticaly rewarding Nordic Walking sessions starting from the Visitor centre. This is an excellent way of improving your fitness using walking poles and a chance to meet new friends! So don't be shy, and join in the latest fitness sensation in the great outdoors!.
