Nordic Walking
Every Friday and Saturday
11am - 12.30pm

Join Ed for the fantasticaly rewarding Nordic Walking sessions starting from the Visitor centre! This is an excellent way of improving your fitness using walking poles and a chance to meet new friends! So don't be shy, and join in the latest fitness sensation in the great outdoors! 272001.
Moth Night
Friday 10th May
9pm (meet at Visitor Centre)

Join us for an evening looking at the fascinating world of moths! These often over-looked creatures are wonderfully colurful and full of character! We will set up our light trap (no moths are harmed during this process) and we will record all our finds with the National Moth Recording scheme! You will need to bring a torch, warm clothing and insect repellant! Refreshments will be provided during the evening.

Dawn Chorus Walk (With Breakfast)
Saturday 11th May

An essential for all early risers! Join the warden for this stroll around the Nantcarn Valley and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Dawn Chorus as our feathered friends get ready for the day ahead. Learn how to identify birds by sight and sound, and hopefully see other local wildlife whilst out. On return to the centre, you can relax with a hot roll and cuppa, whilst enjoying a short slide show of wildlife within the gwent area. You can even take advantage of our special pod offer, by staying in one of our glamping pods the night prior and taking the short walk from the campsite to the centre! 1807 Trek
Sunday 19th May
10am - 3pm

Join us for this guided walk through history as we take in the sites of the canal, woodlands and iron age hillfort of Twmbarlwm. Commencing on the banks of the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal at Cwmcarn, we will learn about the history of mining in the area, the importnace of this route in the industiral revolution, pay respects to the memories of miners gone by, and wonder in the marvels of nature as she reclaims her grasp on the landscapes! This walk of contrasts has some steep ascents and descents and is approx 9 miles long! A packed lunch and drink is recommended, and sturdy footwear is essential as is clothing for all weathers. On our return we will relax in th ecoffee shop with a nice hot drink and cupcake.

Bug Box Workshop
Tuesday 28th May
11am - 3.15pm (3 sessions available)
£5 per child - Ages 6 plus (Booking Essential)
Continuing on our wildlife theme we will be building our own bug hotels using wood and twigs/bamboo to encourage wildlife to our gardens! The workshop will involve using hammer and nails and sanding down wood. Once you have completed your hotel, you can hang them in your garden and watch out for all the creepy crawlies!

Make a Mini Nature Reserve!
Wednesday 29th May
11am - 3.15pm (3 hourly sessions available)
£5 per child - Ages 6 plus (Booking Essential)
Come along and create your very own mini nature reserve! These little wildlife havens are simple and fun to create and you get the joys of watching them develop over time! Suitable for ages 6 plus, we will be getting hands on with compost, twigs and stones to create a mini Cwmcarn!
