Cwmcarn Angling Association

Cwmcarn Angling Association is situated in the tranquil, picturesque setting of Cwmcarn Forest.

The lake is approximately 1 acre in size, having spring fed, crystal clear waters. In the vicinity of the lake, there are seating areas, BBQ/picnic facilities, car parking and toilets. It’s an ideal location for a family day out or for that little bit of ‘me’ time with the excitement of catching some fish.

The lake boasts Grown-on Brown Trout, which are presenting a challenge for the more experienced angler. They will test your fly or coarse angling skills, with many being 1lb - 1.5lbs in weight. There are also young small brown trout, which are the offspring of the grown-on brown trout and are giving children and amateur anglers a fun time and even though they are only small fish, the enjoyment of catching them is enormous. We also have a stock of coarse fish e.g. Carp, Tench and Bream.

All our fish are ‘catch and release’ and must be treated with the utmost respect with landing nets being used at all times. Keep Nets are prohibited. It is a family lake and is shared by all degrees of skills.

We will hopefully be offering taster sessions for children, during school holidays, dates and further information to be released.

The club runs a session for disabled people on a Saturday morning from 10.00am to 12.00pm, this is run in conjunction with Disability Sport Wales. All tackle and bait is supplied for a nominal fee of £2 per person - all users must be accompanied by a carer. These sessions will be commencing again from the 1st Saturday in March 2011, with the exception of bank holiday weekends.

Club rules and regulations

1. Barbless Hooks ONLY
2. All fish are Catch & Release
3. Membership cards to be carried at ALL times
4. NO keep nets allowed
5. One rod per member
6. NO rods to be left unattended
7. NO spinners to be used at ANY time
8. ALL anglers to use a landing net at ALL times
9. ALL fish to be returned with MINIMUM stress
10. ALL rubbish must be removed by member
11. Fishing times to correspond with Scenic Drive open hours
12. NO radios or dogs to accompany anglers whilst fishing
13. Coarse methods and fly fishing ONLY
14. In the interest of children and other anglers: Please report ALL incidents of dog fouling to the information desk
15. NO tents or bivvey
