The event will take place on Friday 24th – Sunday 26th June 2016. On Friday 24th some churches may have limited activities taking place in relation to the refreshments and childrens activities, please check to avoid disapointment.

There will be no courtesy bus in operation on Friday 24th June.

 

Open Top Bus

Courtesy Bus Service

A hop on, hop off bus service will run from 10am until 4pm on the Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of the event. Let us take you around the churches to view the displays, whilst also offering you a scenic tour around the outskirts of the magnificent Caerphilly Castle.

Caerphilly Players, our local amateur dramatics group, will be carrying out commentry on the courtesy bus offering facts and information on the participating venues and the local area. For information on the route and local attractions please click on the link below.

Sunday Service: There will be a service at 10.30am. There is also a songs of praise which is open to all at 4.30pm.

  • There will poetry readings every hour (on the hour)
  • There will also be a display of artwork in the rear room, produced by the Art class that meet at our church
  • There will be a children's activity table set up but parents will have to supervise their own child

Activities

  • There will be a table with materials on to interest children while their families admire the display.
  • On Saturday, 6th July (2pm-4pm) St Catherine's Church Hall will become 'Messy Church'. This involves craft work for children on a biblical theme. At approx 3pm there will be a short religious service (often involving Puppets) followed by afternoon tea. Come in and enjoy you will be very welcome!

Societies

Located in the Visit Caerphilly Centre, various groups and societies will display their work and achievements. From floral exhibits to photo displays there will be an array of projects on display.

Bonsai

Glyn Deri Bonsai Club

Glyn Deri Bonsai Club will be exhibiting bonsai, demonstrating the creation of Bonsai from yamadori and holding a Bonsai clinic for anyone having problems or needing advice with their trees. Why not bring your bonsai with you for restyling! We will be linking in with the theme of poetry through Japanese poetry in keeping with Bonsai. Dipslay at Twyn Community Centre.

Caerphilly Players

Caerphilly Players are a local amateur dramatic society who have been working closely with the Flower Festival for a number of years. Dressed as Disney characters the team will offer interesting facts and information on the area and places of workship. They will also be on hand to answer questions and assist visitors.

Caerphilly Horticultural Society

The Caerphilly & District Horticultural society will  be presenting 'Busy Bees Allotments' with flower & plant displays. Plants, books and magazines will be on sale. For more details call 02920 884909. Display at Twyn Community Centre.

Activities

The Visit Caerphilly Centre will be the focal point of the event and meeting point for the open top bus. Free children's activities including pot a plant and face painting along with a birds of prey display and society floral displays. Hop on the open top bus and start your tour of the churches from outside the centre.
