2019 Events

PLEASE NOTE A CHANGE OF VENUE

The Town Council is holding a public participation exercise for residents at a change of venue from Risca Rugby Club (that is holding a funeral recpetion) to Risca Citizens Hall on Park Road, on Thursday 14 March between 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm. All residents are welcome to meet with your Town Councillors and to discuss our recent and future events. Teas/coffees will be available. (Bob Campbell, Town Clerk, 12 March 2019)  

2018 Events

Risca Town's Pantomime "Cinderella" was held on 8/9 December with Kate Poole Productions of Risca.   The peformances were well received by the families of Risca and many reports were noted form the residents that they were looking forward to Kate Poole Production's Pamtomime in 2019.  The Town Council wish to extend their apprciaiton for the hard work and excellent performances of the cast. Risca Winter Fayre Sat 1 December.  The Town Council's contribution to the Caerphilly Counil event included presenitng music and dancing with the "Cinderalla" Pantomime performers being present, the Risca Salvation Army Band and with teas, coffes and cakes being avaialble for the Risca residents attending. The Fayre was deemed to be very successful.    

Armisitce Concert at Moriah Church Friday 9 Nov.  Yet again the concert jointly held by Risca Town and Risca East Councils was well received.  

Summer Fayre - Tredegar Park, Risca on Saturday 7 July 12 noon - 6pm.  Risca Town and Risca East Councils are contributing to the Fayre by holding a tea party from 12 to 2.30 pm and then again from 4 pm to 5.30 pm interspersed with a Wartime music and dance theme around 3pm.  The warm summer weather contributed to a succesful County Borough event. 

Risca Town Council's Summer Flower Baskets have been erected along Commercial Street and Tredegar Street from late June to late September  

Bands in the Park - Tredegar Park, Risca on Sunday 1 July - 2-4 pm.  Risca Town Council held its very successful Bands in the Park event on Sunday afternnon with the Crosskeys Silver Band performing.  (Bob Campbell, Town Clerk, 3 July 2018)

'Aladdin' the Pantomime on Saturday 10 December 2016 at 1 pm and 5 pm and Sunday 11 December at 12 noon and 4 pm - a Risca Town and Risca East Councils joint event.

Risca gives medics a rousing welcome home

Thousands of residents and visitors lined the streets of Risca on St David's Day to cheer the heroic medics of the 203 (Welsh) Field Hospital Unit.

The squadron received a heroes' welcome as they marched through the town in an event to mark the unit's homecoming following a tour of Afghanistan as part of Operation HERRICK.

The event was organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council, the 203 (Welsh) Field Hospital unit's designated partner for the Armed Forces Community Covenant Scheme.

The parade and medal ceremony was generously sponsored by the Tesco, Spar and Aldi stores in Risca, as well as the Tesco store in Ystrad Mynach. Risca Primary School kindly hosted the troops prior to the parade and medal ceremonies taking place.
