Community Health Champions

Over 160 Caerphilly residents have joined the Community Health Champions Network.

Would you like to :

  • improve your health ?
  • find out about health services in your area ?
  • share information with your friends, family and neighbours ?

Why should I join the Community Health Champions Network?

There are often small steps we can take to lead healthier lives. However, it can be hard to take the first step, even if we really want to make changes.

It can be difficult to know what information and advice is right and what it wrong, and we can be unaware of the support available. By joining the Network you can make a difference to your health and the people around you.

Who can join the Network ?

  • Anyone aged 16 and over
  • Anyone who lives in Caerphilly county borough
  • Anyone interested in leading a healthier lifestyle
  • Anyone who wants to learn more about health

What does the Network offer me ?

  • Free training in local venues
  • The option of gaining an Ogored Level 1 qualification
  • Briefing sessions on a variety of health topics
  • Information on local services
  • Regular information bulletins
  • Networking events – a chance to meet other Champions and shape the programme with your ideas and views

When you join the network you will be invited to attend a training session on the scheme. This is approx. 6 hours long and can be split over 1,2 or 3 days.

Following this you will be able to access 2 hour long briefing sessions on a variety of topics such as: adult / child weight management, smoking, alcohol, cancer screening, drugs, diabetes, dementia, mental health, sexual health, managing long term conditions

You could also access some of the community projects that are run in your local area.
