COVID 19 UPDATE 21/12/2020

Due to the latest government announcement the Manor House, Gift Shop and Visitor Centre will remain closed until further notice.

COVID UPDATE 03/12/2020

In line with the latest guidelines issued by the Welsh Government, the Manor house will be closed to visitors from 5pm Friday 4th December 2020.

However the gift shop, café and Conservatory Restaurant will continue to welcome guests. Our opening hours will remain as 10:00 – 16:00 Tuesday – Sunday each week. 

Regrettably, we will not be able to serve alcohol for consumption on the premises until the current restrictions on sales are lifted.
We have taken measures to ensure that our Gift shop, Café and Restaurant are safe environments for our team and guests.  We look forward to welcoming you.

COVID-19 Update 23/10/2020

We will be closing our doors for the duration of the Circuit Break period in line with Welsh Government guidelines, 5pm Friday 23rd October to November the 9th.  We look forward to welcoming you back after this short break. In the meantime, stay home, stay safe.

COVID-19 Update

Whilst Llancaiach Fawr Manor house is currently closed, following the advice from the Welsh Government we can assure you that the Manor will be open to the public just as soon as we are happy that we are able to adhere to the social distancing guidelines and feel it is safe to do so. However, in the meantime we are delighted to confirm that the Cafe and Gift Shop are now reopen.

Ar present, due to local lockdown restrictions we are only able to accept visitors from Caerphilly County Borough. Additionally, only members of the same household can be seated together indoors, or up to 6 individuals outdoors. In order to keep you safe during your visit, we are introducing a range of measures at Llancaiach Fawr Manor to help adhere to social distancing guidelines and hygiene standards.

  • Our staff have been trained in hygiene and social distancing and provided with the necessary PPE
  • Where required, there will be two metre markers on the ground to help visitors maintain a safe distance
  • We have increased site cleaning regimes
  • There will be screens in place at reception and in the café to separate visitors from staff
  • Hand sanitisers for staff and visitors will be in use across sites
  • The café will provide takeaway options or tables on our patio area can be booked by calling 01443 412248
  • A one way system will be implemented in the exhibition area We look forward to welcoming you back to Llancaiach Fawr Manor .
  • Information will be taken from any guests eating in our Cafe for the purposes of Track and Trace

The building you see now was built in c1550 for Dafydd ap Richard.

The Manor was designed to be easily defended during the turbulent reigns of Tudor kings and queens and is one of the finest examples of a semi-fortified manor in Wales today.
