Global Schools Partnerships

Promoting global education through the curriculum!

The Global Schools Partnership aims to motivate young people's commitment to a fairer, more sustainable world. DFID (Department For International Development) supports partnerships that promote global education through the curriculum. Support and guidance is provided to teachers and grants are available to schools to make the most of a school partnership as a learning tool.

British Council International Schools Award

The International Schools Award is an accreditation scheme for curriculum-based international work in schools. The scheme provides recognition for teachers and their schools working to instil a global dimension into the learning experience of all children and young people.

The International Schools Award supports schools to develop the following:

  • An international ethos embedded throughout the school
  • A majority of pupils within the school impacted by and involved in international work
  • Collaborative curriculum based work with a number of partner schools
  • Curriculum based work across a range of subjects
  • Year round international activity
  • Involvement of partner schools and the wider community in the UK

The International Schools Award is administered by the British Council and consists of a three tier system. You can apply for the foundation tier, intermediate tier or the full award depending on how much international work you have done so far.
