Coffee Shop & Gift Shop

Coffee Shop

Our Coffee Shop offers a wide range of snacks and drinks to satisfy all our visitors - from delicious cakes, speciality teas and freshly ground coffee to high-quality traditional beverages, milkshakes and soft drinks.

Sit back and relax "with the best cup of coffee in the Valleys" (as described by some of our regular visitors!). Treat the kids to a milkshake or fruitjuice - and maybe even a cookie!

Choose from our locally sourced selection of cakes, flapjacks, cookies, and sweet-treats.

Our cake selection changes regularly so come back and try them all - we certainly have!

Pick up a loyalty card and bring it with you each time you visit. Every time you buy a hot drink, we'll stamp your card. Once you've bought 9, the 10th will come absolutely FREE!

We can also offer an area for our visitors to consume their own packed lunches. We recommend you check with us in advance to ensure its availability.

Gift Shop

Visit the Winding House Gift Shop for a wide selection of high quality gifts, traditional toys, crafts, jewellery and books - with gifts for every pocket!

Our museum shop stocks a wide variety of unusual souvenirs, traditional wooden children’s toys, crafts, jewellery and books concerning the local area and its history.

Whether you’re looking for quirky gifts, a taste of Wales for relatives overseas or that extra special “something”, you’ll find it at the Winding House!

The Winding House Gift Shop is the only retail supplier of superior, high quality coal models produced by Merthyr Tydfil-based company, Silverline Glass Engravers. These detailed models are hand-made from real Welsh coal in Wales.

We are also one of the few suppliers for publications by a number of local history groups, including the new Gelligaer Historical Society Publication, " Bargoed and Gilfach: A Local History" and "Peerless Powell Duffryn of the South Wales Coalfield", by Leslie Shore.
