Take advantage of Caerphilly 10k early bird offer

16/01/2018

Eager runners have until 31st January to take advantage of the early bird sign up offer for this year’s Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10km event.

The popular event returns for 2018 on Sunday 20th May and promises to be bigger and more popular than ever. The early bird offer sees entry frozen at 2017 prices until the end of January - £19 full unaffiliated entry and £17 for concessions and affiliated runners.

Following this, prices will rise to £20 for unaffiliated entries and £18 for concessions and affiliated runners. Entry to the Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 2km run is unaffected and remains at last year’s price of £6.50.

As ever, the course will lead participants in and around Caerphilly town centre, passing iconic landmarks including the Tommy Cooper statue along the way, as well as offering fantastic views of the medieval castle, which dominates as the stunning backdrop to the annual event.

Deputy Leader Cllr Sean Morgan said, “The Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10km is one of the highlights of our annual events programme, attracting thousands of people to Caerphilly from far and wide to participate in what has become one of the largest 10km run events in Wales. I have no doubt that this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever before, and would encourage anyone who is thinking about giving it a go to sign up and take advantage of this early bird discount offer”.

The course record was set by Owain Jones in 2016, who crossed the finish line in an impressive 31 minutes and three seconds. Many elite and competitive entrants are expected to try and take on this record for 2018.

The event is organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council and is supported by Welsh Athletics, Run Wales and Sport Wales.
